Ablaze Vocal Arts Ensemble is a non-auditioned mixed-voice adult community-based group, which rehearses once a week in Regina, SK. As an inclusive community ensemble, there is a heavy emphasis on learning musicianship skills within the context of the choral rehearsal. The pace of Ablaze VAE is a little more relaxed than that of Ignite Chamber Choir; Ablaze VAE is suitable for singers of all experience and ability levels. While the ability to read music is an advantage, music literacy skills are not required to participate in Ablaze VAE. In addition to weekly rehearsals, Ablaze VAE offers a 30-minute theory class prior to weekly rehearsals to promote music literacy to support the music education of their members. Ablaze Vocal Arts Ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral (1861 McIntyre Street).
Ablaze VAE’s past projects include: a collaboration with Queen City Brass Band in December 2023, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the RSO in June 2024, Home Alone: In Concert with the RSO in December 2025, and The Tenors’ Joy to the World Tour at Casino Regina in November 2023 and December 2025.
Ablaze VAE accepts new members at the start of each term (September and January). If you are interested in joining us next season, we would love to have you in the choir! Please email contactus@ablazevae.ca to schedule a voice placement with our Artistic Director. Voice placements for each season take place in May annually, however new members are always welcome to schedule an appointment at the start of each term (September and January) if they miss the May voice placement appointments. Choir Fees – Ablaze VAE:
Each choral season is divided into two terms: the Fall term which runs September-December, and the Spring term which runs January-May. The registration fee per term for Ablaze VAE is $100.00 ($200.00 for the full season). The student fee per term is $75.00 ($150.00 for the full season). If joining in the choir in the Fall term, members of Ablaze VAE can opt to pay for both terms ($200.00 regular fee, $150.00 student fee) at Fall registration in September, or they can choose to pay $100.00 ($75.00 student fee) for the Fall term in September, and $100.00 ($75.00 student fee) for the Spring term in January.
Ignite Chamber Choir is an auditioned mixed-voice adult community-based group, which rehearses once a week in Regina, SK, and consists of between 24 and 40 singers. As an ensemble, Ignite Chamber Choir is a dynamic and dedicated group of singers committed to crafting high-level choral performances. Ignite CC is for experienced choral musicians seeking opportunities to sing challenging repertoire. Ignite Chamber Choir is under the umbrella of Ablaze Vocal Arts Ensemble Inc. All singers in Ignite CC are strongly encouraged but not required to sing with Ablaze VAE. All singers who complete an audition for Ignite CC will be offered a position in the non-auditioned community ensemble Ablaze VAE regardless of their standing with Ignite CC. The ability to read music is a necessary skill to participate in Ignite CC. In addition to weekly rehearsals, Ignite CC offers a 30-minute musicianship class prior to weekly rehearsals to foster and develop skills such as sight-reading and ear training. Ignite Chamber Choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 3:00pm-5:00pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral (1861 McIntyre Street).
Ignite CC’s past projects include: a collaboration with Queen City Brass Band in December 2023, Handel’s Messiah with the RSO in December 2023, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the RSO in June 2024, Timothy Corlis’ Missa Pax in March 2025, Home Alone: In Concert with the RSO in December 2025, and The Tenors’ Joy to the World Tour at Casino Regina in November 2023 and December 2025.

Auditions consist of assigned excerpts, sight-singing, ear training assessments, and part-independence exercises. Participation in Ignite Chamber Choir is a one-year commitment; auditions for Ignite CC are held annually in May for the following season, but when vacancies arise, additional audition appointments are held in September and January. Choir Fees – Both Choirs:
For singers who successfully pass the Ignite CC audition process and choose to participate in both Ignite CC and Ablaze VAE, there is a discounted two-choir fee of $160.00 per term ($320.00 for the full season). Singers who participate in both choirs can opt to pay $320.00 for both terms at Fall registration in September, or they can choose to pay $160.00 for the Fall term in September, and $160.00 for the Spring term in January.
